ON SET: September 24th 2021, Borderline music video
So, a funny thing happened… Yeah… When I started posting the old MonsterDiscoHell photos on social media and made this new gallery website, I thought it’s just fun to have this classic, yet dated content around once again and maybe nothing more. Well, after a few days, the word about MDH’s recent revival had reached Lordi and he called me out of the blue. We talked a good while and reminisced about the old times. Then he told me they were shooting the next music video for a new song, Borderline, in a few days, on September 24th 2021, and invited me to the set so I could get also some brand new content for my social media channels and galleries. He didn’t have to tell me twice…
This was my first time in over 10 years being behind-the-scenes with the band. It was also the first time I met and got to take photos of Mana, Hella and Hiisi. The guys made me feel right at home. I spent the whole day on the set and got to see some of the scenes being filmed and got to help out a bit too. Between the takes we caught up on the last decade in our lives. Amen even said at one point “Wait… what year is it, because psyanide is standing right there!?“. That made me all warm and fuzzy. Anyways, the video has a dark ride, ghost train, haunted house type of setting in an amusement park with Lordi monsters of course stirring up the pot and it is directed by Lordi himself. The façade of the Lordi ghost train ride was surely a sight to behold, celebrating all the Lordi characters and members past and present with ridiculously good looking artwork all around. It was set up in Tivoli Sariola’s warehouse and if I understood correctly, it’ll be a part of their traveling carnival in the future for people to experience.
I just can’t thank everyone enough; the band, Sime, Jessycho, TT, Kelly, the film crew... It was truly an awesome day I’ll remember for the rest of my life and it was really nice to be behind the Lordi scenes once again. And now it’s my turn to take all of you behind those scenes with this big ass photo gallery from the set!
