Lordi - Screem Writers Guild (Atomic Fire Records, 2023)
Hello, monstermaniacs! Today is the day! The new Lordi album, Screem Writers Guild was officially released today. The 18th full-length studio album by our favorite monster rock band is here. It’s been less than 1,5 years since we got the music industry shaking, 7 album release Lordiversity and now it’s already time to step into the new and exciting era of the monster-squad and get a load of all new, classic Lordi style music with big choruses and catchy melodies, inspired by variety of horror stories! Even though this album is very much a back-to-basics type of release after Lordiversity, the new energy and enthusiasm of the band can be heard on the album, and not only in Kone’s guitar playing, which straight up steals the spotlight on many occasions. There’s even a couple of very surprising and unexpected tracks that still fit the Lordi mold perfectly. Whether you got the physical album on CD or vinyl or going full digital with this release, enjoy and as always, play it loud, mutha!
And of course, what would a new Lordi release day be without a little surprise? We also got the brand new, proper music video for the album opening track, Dead Again Jayne. The ‘80s style TV show showing classic horror stories inspired video was directed by Mr. Lordi himself, as was their previous big one, Borderline in October 2021. And now as the video is out, I can tell you that yes, I was at the music video shoot and yes there will be a big behind-the-scenes photo gallery tomorrow here on MDH!
