LIVE: Halloween 2008, Tavastia, Helsinki, Finland

After all the Dark Floors related things and shaking off and leaving The Arockalypse finally behind after almost three incredibly busy years, it was time to step into the next era. I’m not gonna go into the details of what went into making the next album and how it is, maybe not a direct result, but more like a mirror or a reflection of what was going on with and around the band at the time. Deadache was Lordi’s fourth album and it was released worldwide at the end of October 2008. On Halloween night, October 31st 2008, the album release show was held at Tavastia in Helsinki, Finland. This was a special “for the fans” -type of show. Everything stripped down to bare minimum. The band just playing an intimate club gig. No fuss, no stage sets and not too many props and theatrics. The setlist was even more special. This was the first and only time the band played the new Deadache album in its entirety, of course accompanied with some of the band’s biggest hits up until that point. Correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t think they played Devil Is A Loser and that would make this a quite special full-length Lordi gig.

This was sadly the only time I saw Lordi live during the Deadache era. At this point I was already off the road crew. In 2008 I had made many changes in my personal life; a new job, a new apartment and things had finally started to happen with my own band. I just didn’t have enough time and energy to keep following Lordi that closely. And in 2008 and 2009 Lordi was mostly touring abroad with a new crew, so there was that.

Anyways, here are my photos from this show. After the gig, in the spirit of “for the fans“, the band even did a big meet & greet signing session and that’s what we’ll look at in the next throwback gallery!
